Initiative for God and for good helping women of the South Bay!

26 Jan

Wow….the people of Concordia Church and School opened their hearts to help women escaping violence with a more than $1,000 donation to the Chula Vista Battered Women’s Center.  The women will receive new bedding, gently used bedding, new towels, new dishes, pots and pans, toys for the children, blankets, new pillows and much more.  What a wonderful to way to show them that they are not alone and that in darkness there is hope and love.  Please pray that they will reflect on and perhaps seek out the love and healing God offers.  Don’t forget about them.  God is a God of miracles and He can impact their lives and the lives of their children for good and lasting good!

Thank you to the Women of Concordia for organizing this.

Care Packages reach the deployed!

28 Jul

On July 3rd as part of our Support the Troops event and parade, we put together care packages for deployed soldiers.  It was a little touch of home, some goodies and a note to let them know that we appreciate their sacrifice and pray for them.  We received an email today about one of the soldiers who received a packet.  Thank you Concordia!

Pastor Schmidt,
Just letting you know that I and my shipmate LCDR Galan received one of
your Church’s packages today and wanted to thank you for the time your
church took to send this to US service members serving here in
Afghanistan. The shampoo, soap and candy are all well received. We don’t
get a lot of these items here in a war zone so it will all go to good
use. And just because I am in a war zone doesn’t mean my sweet tooth has
subsided, so I for will be eating most of the hard candy you provided.
Thanks for the care, it’s always nice to know our fellow Americans are
thinking and supporting us here in Afghanistan.
Thanks again.

Very respectfully,

LT Joe Vermette, U.S. Navy

Helping families in need through PROJECT Hand

24 Jul

There are families that have need in tough economic times.  What impact could we have as a church if each family purchased one item each time you visited the grocery store for a family in need?  Would that bless a family and give them hope?

What would that add to your grocery bill……a can of soup, a package of oatmeal, a box of cereal…..?

If you want to help in this way, bring your donation to church.  In the worship center under the counter there is a large plastic bin labeled “Project HAND.”  A volunteer will deliver our gifts of love to Project Hand so that they can bless families in Chula Vista and beyond!

Thank you!

Serving military families in Chula Vista and around the world!

12 Jul

It was such fun!

The weather was lovely.  The kids were cute. The people were active putting together the packets for deployed soldiers. The veteran was educating a new generation. The children got to recite the pledge of allegience, sing the national anthem and watch the colors flying.  The watermelon was cool.  The seeds flew high….!  It was an all around great day.

I want to thank our community partners.  Dr. Blanca Fresno of Pediatrics in Paradise who supported the Watermelon booth…..our good friend and neighbor across the street who is so committed to the community we serve!
